1) In terms of what to wear, we want you to be comfortable. Think comfortable business casual. Sport coats and ties not needed for men. Comfortable summer dresses, tops and skirts or pant suits are good for women. Please, no shorts, tee shirts or flip-flops.
2) Assuming that the weather is good, we have some resources that will make things easier in getting to the Linden Terrace (AKA the Stan Michels Promenade) and enjoying the day.
I have created a short video that shows how to enter the park on foot from Fort Washington Avenue and how to get to the Linden Terrace (Stan Michels Promenade) from that entrance. You can see that video here: https://youtu.be/mnUiGGs35dk
Here is another short video that shows how to get to the Linden Terrace (Stan Michels Promenade) from the parking lot across the street from the Cafe: https://youtu.be/fHxcbM8n0g0
Here's an additional video on how to get to the Cafe Lawn from the subway (will also help if you're just entering the park on foot from Fort Washington Avenue) and from there to the Linden Terrace (Stan Michels Promenade): https://youtu.be/GM003-an4Y4
And the (very important) directions to the restrooms from the Linden Terrace (Stan Michels Promenade): https://youtu.be/NRUXlz3Aiv0
There are general directions on how to get to the park by public transportation on our website, here, as well as a map of the park indicating where we will be.
We will have signs written in chalk along the walkways that will also help, and we will have some helpers on the lookout for people who may need direction to the Linden Terrace (Stan Michels Promenade).
Please know that we will be providing cake and beverages for the picnic reception, but if you want to have a more substantial lunch, we would suggest that you pack a picnic blanket and a nice lunch that you can enjoy along with the cake and sparkling apple cider. We will have a few folding chairs, but if you require a chair for yourself for the picnic, please bring one along. Our friend Tahnee will be at the picnic site before the ceremony starts, so if you want to drop off your picnic items at the Cafe Lawn, Tahnee will be happy to keep an eye on your food and picnic items.
We highly recommend that you plan on arriving at least 20 minutes early so you have plenty of time to drop off any picnic items at the Cafe Lawn picnic site and then make your way to the Linden Terrace (Stan Michels Promenade) before the Ceremony starts at Noon.
3) If there is rain in the forecast, we do have alternate plans in place that you can see here and we will contact everyone 48 hours in advance if our outdoor event is canceled due to rain.
4) We could use one or two helpers to assist with the following:
Our grandchildren will be helping with ushering, but we need one adult who can help people up steps and in getting to seats.
After ceremony, helping pack up items from altar.
Offer assistance to Tahnee at the Cafe Lawn in setting up drinks and cake.
Help us pack up at the end of the picnic.
If interested, please contact Sandra or Bernard for more details.
Please contact Sandra at 646-249-9166 or Bernard at 646-623-8167 with any questions. If you do need to reach us on the day of the Ceremony, please know that we will have our phones off after 11:30 AM (for obvious reasons), but our son, Jeff Wood, will be available after 11:30AM if you need assistance. You can reach him at 518-977-8354. Best to text him, if you can. Just tell him you're here for the Ceremony. :-)
Thank you everyone! We look forward to seeing you on August 11.
